Swachh Mahotsav held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on 6 September 2019. The event was organised under Union Ministry of Jal Shakti where President Ram Nath Kovind  presented  Swachh Bharat Awards in various categories for outstanding contribution to Swachh Bharat Mission .

Key Points :

• Swachh Mahotsav saw the launch of the Swachh Bharat Mission's Book on Behavior Change Communication which was released by Union Minister of Jal Shakti ,Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and received by President Ram Nath Kovind.
• President stressed the importance of Cleanliness for the success of Jal Jeevan Mission which was launched by the government in 2019.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to receive his award from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for the project which he started in 2014 when he came in  power for the first time namely Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.

Key Points :

1) Swachh Bharat Abhiyan as said was launched in 2014 with aim to improve the overall cleanliness in the country and to eliminate open defecation .

2) The project has 2 major components :
                   

• Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan (rural) : Operated under Union Ministry of Drinking and Sanitation .  
• Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan (urban) : Operated under Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. 

3) The Prize will be given to PM Modi in  late September 2019   when he will visit USA.

4) Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is a private organization 
    launched in 2000 by Bill Gates and Melinda Gates.

1) Open Defecation Free(ODF) states & Territories of India : 26

2) Open Defecation States: Assam, Bihar, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Tripura , Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal.

3) Union Ministry of  Drinking and Sanitation is now dissolved.

4) Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs Minister: Hardeep Singh Puri .

Arjuna Award is a Civilian Award for outstanding individual achievements in National Sports.  Started in 1961 given by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports ,this award is one of the prestigious award a sportsperson can receive during his/her career.

• Award  carries a scroll , bronze statue and cash prize of Rs.500,000.
• Recently, Govt. has revised the guidelines of Arjuna Award according to which ,to be eligible for this said award ,a sportsperson should not only have good performance consistently for the last 3 years at the international level with excellence for the year in which award is recommended but should also have qualities like Sense of Discipline,Leadership and Sportsmanship .

PM  Modi Launched Fit India Movement in an event from Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex in New Delhi. This movement was launched on the occasion of  National Sports Day  in the remembrance of Birth Anniversary of Hockey Legend Major Dhyan Chand .

Key Points 

• Members of Advisory Committee include Indian Olympic Association (IOA), National Sports Federations (NSFs),govt. officials,private bodies like Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Tata Trusts, JSW Cement and JSW Paints, Reliance Foundation, SE TransStadia Pvt. Ltd., ASSOCHAM India, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(FICCI).
• Fit India Movement is an attempt by the government to make people of the country realise and give importance to sports and fitness in their daily life cycle.
• Union Sports Ministry constituted an Advisory Committee .
• Actors like Milind Soman and Shilpa Shetty are also the part of Advisory Committee as they are popular Fitness lover.
